Did “How I met your mother” jump the shark by having a gay propaganda episode?

OK, so Barney’s as-of-yet-unheard-of brother is not only Black but also a homosexual who is gettng married and adopting a child. Predictably, all the straight people on the show “learned their lesson” about gay bars and how supposedly cool and respectful they are. Did anyone else feel lectured at?

No. I just love the show so much. It’s so funny and ….. all those things are not even an issues anymore, are they?

If you ask me, I think the show really should have been canceled quite a long while back.

I don’t know what Jump the shark means. BTW, do you feel lectured at when George W Bullshit craps on about family values?

    no,
I’m glad that they portrayed a gay person in a good light and not as a promiscuous drunk/drugging fool!
Most gay/lesbian people have a normal family life with kids and a home and jobs.
I’m a lesbian and I’m more of a homebody than most of my straight friends. And yes we do raise kids.

I felt there were several messages going on and the only one I thought was funny was how the guys suddenly saw things from the girls point of view about being hit on. And, it was obviously their way of guest starring Wayne Brady; but surely they could have come up with a better storyline for such a talented person. A gay, black guy with a pending marriage and adoption and…they made him Barney’s brother to boot! There was a little too much going on there for much humor to fit in. I understand your point and to me it just didn’t mesh so I wasn’t sure what they were trying to accomplish.

I think you missed the joke of “lessoned learned” episode. The joke was on you I guess.

Oh and “jumped the shark” as a phrase has now long ago “jumped the shark.”

Since one of the stars of the show has come out of the closet, I feel this is right on time. It does reflect today’s society and it is hella funny!
