Hi, I am writing a fantasy novel about witches and vampires. It is a fairly dark book, not with happy little elves running around J
Plot: The book is about a girl named Lily who has just escaped from a school that trains witches from birth to be cold-blooded killers. She meets a young man and begins to fall in love with him but then realizes that he is a vampire and that she has been trained to kill him her whole life. The young man sees her eyes (they are violet, the sign of a witch) and begins to attack her. Lily doesn’t fight back because she feels that she deserves it and she lets him bite her (she becomes sort of a half-vampire, she is only a vampire at night and she bites herself rather than hurt anymore innocent people) So then a Master at the school that she just escaped from tries to kill the vampire and Lily throws herself in front of him and gets injured really badly. She collapses and William (the vampire) pulls her into her arms and kisses her because she just saved his life. When she wakes up he is gone and she is entirely alone and injured in the forest. While traveling she is attacked by the witches and saved by a human girl names Holly who takes Lily back to her cottage and introduces her to her grandfather, Aldrin, who is a with who escaped just like Lily had many years before. Aldrin trains Lily and takes Lily in almost as a second granddaughter. One day while in the market Lily is spotted by a group of vampires who trick her into putting bracelets on her wrists that prevent her from doing any magic. They then take her to a horrible jail where she remains for several years. William eventually comes back (I’m not saying how, haha) and breaks Lily out of jail. Lily knows that he has a girlfriend as she sees him kissing her and their relationship is cold and distant, filled with many icy silences and snappy remarks. William takes her to a secret place where a group of vampires are gathering to begin discussing forming an army to overthrow the witches. The vampires hate Lily (for obvious reasons) but do begin to trust her as she trains them to kill witches most efficiently. The war begins and…That’s all I’m going to say. Sorry for the confusing summary
Titles: I want the title to be something dark and mysterious, something that will catch someone’s eye and make them intrigued. Emphasis on the dark aspect, as I said before this is not a happy book. I don’t want the title to be clever, cute, or witty or anything like The Adventures of or The Tales of…I have temporarily called my novel the Violet Eyes but am not entirely satisfied with it. I have also considered Windows to the Soul but am not sure about that one either. A title that hints that she is a witch, evil, or can do magic would be nice. Please don’t tell me to wait to finish the book to name it because this is just to get my creative juices flowing.
Twilight: This book has nothing to do with Twilight. Just because it involves a vampire and forbidden love doesn’t automatically make it a Twilight knock off. Besides, I started writing this long before I’d read Twilight. (RANDOM FACT: Lily’s original name was Bella after Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter who I used a the foundation of Lily’s character. I wrote the first chapter as her being Bella and then outlined the next three chapters also as her being Bella and then forgot about the book. By the time I picked it up again I had read Twilight and knew that I could no longer call her Bella. Phooey, I liked that nam) By the way, William is not the perfect Edward, he has his flaws, and Lily and Bella could hardly be more opposite. So yes, PLEASE do not even mention Twilight.
Thank you all so much for reading my hectic summary and helping you with my title. I really appreciate it J Please give as many suggestions as you can. Oh and don’t post something if you don’t really mean it, that just waists time and makes me angry.
Oh, I forgot to mention, William’s girlfriend has white blonde hair and Lily has ink black, they are fairly different in personalities, though both are rather cold and uncaring. William has emerald eyes and the piano is a key theme in the book. I include many scenes with Holly, Lily, and William playing. Just some random stuff to maybe inspire some titles. Oh, and if you want to you could include the cover that you envision in your head, just for kicks. Again, thanks!

I think this is going to be an amazing book
as for titles
that is hard, i had soooo much trouble trying to name my novel(still haven’t completely decided on the title)
But i think the title Violet Eyes is great
or something to do with a line in the book, or the setting or something
maybe like, When Blood Turns Cold,
Okay now that does sound stupid
sorry i really didn’t help
but i read the summary and just had to reply
maybe you could name it Black and White
because it could mean piano keys
and the comparasion between Lily and William’s girlfriends hair color, and maybe theier personalitys?
anyways sounds amazing!
Treachery of the Violet
Blue Moon
Gateway to …..
Violet Moon
But i wouldent suggest using the tales/adventures of… it kind of makes it sound like tom sawyer or somthing.
wow what a post! i am also writing a book. i like the title “when the rain fell upside down” it is very mysterious and maybe it could give you some ideas for your book! hope this helped =]
That sounds really interesting! lol. And as for the twilight comment–I know exactly how you feel! Though everyone should really be comparing authors that write about vampires to Anne Rice–not SMeyer who stole her version (’cept for the freaky dazzling thing).
I think a good title might be…hrrmmm “Dark Vision” “Blaqk ….hrmm blaqk something. “Vampiric Magick”
Here’s the best! “Bloody Witchcraft” it’s like combining vampire and witch…gah, I rock.
That’s all I can do. LOL.
Cover: put a piano in a highlight in the background, in the faded foreground place a pair of shadowed violet eyes, maybe have the setting in a forest or wherever.
My creativity is very blah tonight. You should see me on a good day! C=

ah yes i too am writing a vampire story
the only difference is my characters are in love and no one minds
ahah
i used the title
dreaming of a nightmare
but you can have it i stopped writing
also
The Twisted Tales of a Secret
Lying about the Future
Vampire nightmare
Nightmare Love
The same in every way but them all
Difference is insanity
Different and never the same
Piano Lies
Nights within the Keys
The point is to fear who you are (not what you were)
Softer than the pianos song
Violet Piano
Violet Keys
81 times of loss 1 piano (81 keys on a piano)
play around you’ll get something
How about something fantasy-like, like
“Witchwar”?
Or something romantic, like
“Lovebite”?
Or something vampire-ish, like
“Redblooded”? to show she’s different from the coldblooded witches, but she’s like a vamp?
“Fire and Ice”? to symbolize the two sides.
“Birthwitch”? because of her heritage.
“Violet Eyes” is pretty sweet too though, or you could try “Violet Ink” because of her hair. Maybe you could have William tell her that every time he looks at her he’s drowning in a pool of violet ink. it sounds like something a romance novel would have.
“Vampiria” sounds awesome, too.
Let me know when you decide, alright? jan.huynh@yahoo.com
I hope I helped, at least a little!
I can’t think of anything for the title.
However for the cover you could possibly have a girl with a violet eye int the top left corner starring out of the page and in the bottom right corner a picture of and guy with an emerald eye. the pictures would be of just half the face and the face would be faded. the dominant feature is the two eyes and the title.
Hopes this helps! Sry if it makes absolutely no sense! If and when you publish it I would love to read your book it sounds great!
