Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few years, there is no doubt you have heard about the show How I Met Your Mother. This sitcom is based in New York City and is created around 20 something friends just out of college.

The show is based around the main character, Ted Mosby, telling his son and daughter about the events that led to his meeting their mother. How I Met Your Mother’s other main characters are Marshall Eriksen, Robin Scherbatsky, Barney Stinson, and Lily Aldrin.

How I Met Your Mother celebrated episode 100 in January 2010. Reaching 100 episodes is a milestone for a television series because it means the show has attracted enough viewers to last at least five seasons.

Hopefully we can watch this sitcom for another 5 seasons. Friends has been aired for 10 seasons, why not for How I Met Your Mother? The typical viewing age for both shows is the same while the underlying concept for both shows is also the same. How I Met Your Mother may very well be lucky enough to ride on the success of Friends which is why it has become so popular. Add to that the improved writing, better story line, Niel Patrick Harris, and it’s ability to connect even more with the 20 something crowd and the reason it’s so successful becomes fairly obvious.
